| Welcomed by the Cummins professional trainer Jim Brown and a cadre of Cummins executives and experts, the Nordic Tug students took their seats in the classroom for a morning of instruction. Using actual parts, video, and references to the owner's manual and sizable packet of materials distributed, the staff covered a lot of ground and answered many questions.
After a lunch provided by Cummins, we watched a video on props—their characteristics and how they are made—before heading into another room where two engines were set up. One, a marine engine, brought in to point out various components and how they work; and two, a demonstration on a running engine explaining how to bleed the fuel injectors.
Thanks to all the Cummins staff—and especially Jim Brown (shown at right with a camshaft)—who helped make this a very informative and enjoyable day. |
